身勤、眼勤、手勤、口勤、心勤、脑勤

人生之败非傲即惰,二者必居其一;然勤则百弊皆除,勤分六种。

一、身勤:路虽远行则将至,事虽难做则必成;

二、眼勤:遇一人必详细观察,看一文必反复审阅;

三、手勤:易丢之物随手拾之,易忘之事随笔记之;

四、口勤:他人之长多夸多赞,自己之短多学多问;

五、心勤:精诚所至金石为开,苦思所至诸事皆通;

六、脑勤:谋定而后动,知止而有得。

万事皆有法,道正世则通,全勤则真勤。

Failure in life stems from either arrogance or laziness—without exception, one of the two is always at fault. Yet diligence dispels all flaws. True diligence comprises six forms:

  1. Physical Diligence: No matter how distant the road, you’ll reach it if you walk; no matter how difficult the task, you’ll accomplish it if you act.
  2. Visual Diligence: Observe every person closely; read every text thoroughly and repeatedly.
  3. Manual Diligence: Pick up anything easily misplaced the moment you see it; jot down anything easily forgotten as soon as it comes to mind.
  4. Verbal Diligence: Generously praise others’ strengths; humbly seek guidance on your own weaknesses.
  5. Mental Diligence: Sincerity moves even metal and stone; persistent reflection unlocks understanding in all matters.
  6. Intellectual Diligence: Plan thoroughly before taking action; know when to stop, and you will gain wisdom.

Everything in life follows principles—when your path is right, the world opens before you. Only by practicing all six forms can one achieve true diligence.
